What can I expect from a sound-guided meditation?
Your experience begins with a gentle guided pranayama practice to help settle the nervous system, followed by a 60-minute immersive sound journey featuring crystal and metal singing bowls, gong, chimes, voice, and other resonant instruments. While we do not claim that sound baths provide medical or physical healing, many participants report feeling deeply relaxed, rested, mentally clear, and calm during and after the experience.
Do I need any meditation experience?
Not at all. This experience is designed for everyone—from complete beginners to seasoned meditators. Simply come with an open mind and a willingness to go inward.
What should I bring?
Please bring a yoga mat or other comfortable padding to lie on, along with a blanket, pillow, or bolster for added comfort. You may also wish to bring an eye mask and a water bottle.
What should I wear?
We recommend light layers that you will be comfortable and relaxed in for an hour in a warm environment. North Ray Yoga is a hot yoga studio, and although our event is a non-heated event (no extra heat will be pumped into the room for our session), it will still be warm in the room.
Will I be lying down the entire time?
Most participants choose to lie down for the duration of the sound journey, but you're welcome to sit or adjust your position at any time to remain comfortable.
Can I leave during the session?
To preserve the meditative atmosphere for everyone, we ask that guests arrive on time and remain for the full experience whenever possible. If for some reason you are unable to remain in the room for the duration of the session, we ask that you be as quiet and respectful while leaving as possible.
If I arrive late or leave early, can I get a refund?
No. Refunds will not be provided for late arrivals or early departures. Refunds are only granted if a cancellation is made within 24 hours of the start time of the event.
Is the sound very loud?
The instruments range from soft and soothing to rich and resonant. While there may be moments of greater intensity, the experience is designed to be immersive rather than overwhelming. If you are especially sensitive to sound, consider bringing earplugs or setting up in the back of the room.
Is this event suitable for everyone?
Most people can enjoy a sound bath comfortably. If you are pregnant, have epilepsy, wear a pacemaker or other implanted medical device, or have a condition that may be affected by sound or vibration, we recommend consulting your healthcare provider before attending.
